Land for new schools is a rare commodity in the City of Orange, so several projects included renovation of buildings built in the early 1900’s. The goal is to bring technology up to Orange’s District-Wide Technology Plan. Part of the scope of work includes the development of a comprehensive deficiency list and an assumption of a "gut" renovation of all technology systems. An associated
challenge on these projects is a lack of swing space, so construction schedules were phased over summers and after hours, with children present during construction. Several schools had already had Health and Life Safety upgrades completed, so another challenge was to minimize disruption to work that had previously been completed.
