On behalf of the Police Technology Review Committee, IA was asked to research and develop a County Network/Data Sharing Plan. The database and network architecture were required to link 41 County Agencies to share law enforcement and emergency management data in real time, supporting text, images, and other data. We anticipated that the County would expand the network to support up to 500 MDTs across 470 square miles utilizing a wireless broadband link with four levels of network security. The long-term plan and conceptual design was based on simultaneous access by users at 41 agencies utilizing a mesh architecture; system expansion; and interfaces to existing CAD systems through a standards-based approach. Morris County can continually expand the system for integration of future applications without changing local agency database systems.
