IA was asked to complete a Feasibility Study and Recommendations Plan to identify options for interoperable communication between agencies in 23 municipalities. The County’s objective was to identify agency’s communications systems; identify organizational and human resources; define system capabilities; distinguish areas for sharing resources/systems; and create a strategic plan for regional interoperability. We focused on municipalities who expressed interest in joining a regional effort: Summit, Berkeley Heights, and New Providence. We worked closely with these communities in the evaluation of a shared service operation to support Summit Fire Department, EMS, and Police, Millburn Fire Department, and all first responder agencies in New Providence and Berkeley Heights.
